Change Is Fucking Hard

A friendly reminder...



Change is fucking hard.

It's uncomfortable.

Foreign.

And takes commitment.


And fun fact my friends - our brains perceive change as a painful threat. So it does everything it can to AVOID the threat, and run back to the sweet sweet comfort of where you are right now. Thanks primitive brain!!!


I'll say it again, our brains are designed to avoid pain, and seek pleasure - and most things that are uncomfortable (like loosing weight, getting fitter, or changing a lifelong habit) are processed as painful by the brain, so it does everything in its power to protect you, and keep you "safe" in your current habit.



When you start a new workout, eating lifestyle, or have another life change, it’s overwhelming at the beginning. The start of change is always the hardest step. And the brain DOESN'T help. So it’s the dedication & choice to keep going that will get you to the end.



To do this, you have to get comfortable with the discomfort.



Whether you are at the beginning or in the messy middle - feel the discomfort and tell your brain (that's trying to AVOID that discomfort) that it's non threatening, and you're damn determined to keep going.
